What better way to cool off today than to have a water fight and eat ice pops! The nursery children loved exploring the different water squirters and seeing which one squirted the water the highest or the furthest and had great fun aiming for their friends as they kept cool in the heat. We discussed different ways to stay safe in the sun including wearing a sun hat, putting on sun cream and making sure we drink plenty of water. #dcpsEYFS #dcpscaterpillar #dcps30hours #dcpslotc #dcpscore #dcpspshe ... Year 6 Lions had a great session with Kielder Observatory this week as part of their STEM to Stars workshops. We investigated different types of light, used diffraction glasses to enhance lights we can see, and we even made our own bracelets using UV sensitive beads. #dcpslion #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpslotc ... After a few weeks of hard work practising our performances, and then knocking it out of the park with our show this morning, we burnt off a little bit of steam this afternoon on Denbighlandia. Look how good we are at jumping and climbing! #dcpsEYFS #dcpsladybird #dcpsbutterfly #dcpscore #dcpspe #dcpslotc ... See MoreSee Less

Looks like so much fun! brilliant school

Yesterday the full time nursery had great fun toasting marshmallows and making their own popcorn on our firepit. The children were amazing at remembering their campfire rules from last time. We sat on our own seats around the campfire and waited to be invited in to toast our marshmallows. If the smoke went into our eyes we simply closed them and turned away. When our marshmallows were toasted we practised counting to 20 before eating them so they could cool down. We loved the smell of the popcorn cooking and listening to it pop in the pan. The children were amazing at keeping themselves safe. We can’t wait to cook again on our firepit! #dcpseyfs #dcpscaterpillar #dcps30hours #dcpslotc #dcpscore #dcpslifeskills #dcpspshe ... Fantastic, risky play is so important. Well done staff for being brave enough to give children these skills and opportunities 🤗

This morning Year 2 headed outside to make some hula hoop clocks using pebbles and sticks. We then showed different times. Great networking from all. #dcpsdragon #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsmaths #dcpscore #dcpslotc ... See MoreSee Less

Elephants were treated to a fantastic workshop with Dan from Kielder Observatory today. We found out about the importance of dark skies, the amazing Kielder Observatory and the solar system. We knew lots of facts, but found out so many new things too. We even went outside to make a scale model of the solar system with inflatable planets! As today marked the release of stunning images from the James Webb telescope, we were even treated to an explanation of what could be seen in those very first images. We all agreed, Space is amazing! #dcpsElephants #dcpsstem #dcpslotc #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

The first group of Year 6 Lions had a fantastic time surfing at Tynemouth beach this week. They spent their morning learning how to ride the waves of the North Sea and how to do so safely. Last week the full time nursery found some giant eggs in our garden. We discussed what we thought was inside the eggs. The children had great imaginations as some thought it was a giant chocolate egg from the Easter Bunny whilst others thought it could be a golden egg from Jack and the beanstalk, baby chicks, a dragon or a dinosaur. The children created their own posters to help find the owner of the two giant eggs and placed them around Nursery. The next day when we came to school we noticed that the eggs were missing and found a range of footprints and fossils in our nursery classroom. We investigated what happened to the eggs and managed to free some baby dinosaurs trapped in ice by investigating different ways in which we could make ice melt faster #dcpscaterpillar #dcpsEYFS #dcps30hours #dcpscore #dcpslotc #dcpsstem #dcpsenglish ...
