Lovely collaborative play this morning from some of the Dinos when the heavens opened and we couldn’t get out for play. They’ve been dying to do this jigsaw for weeks and they worked so well together to complete it. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpslifeskills #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Our resident Dino musicians wowed me this morning with how quickly they were able to pick up playing a brand new tune on the recorders. They can now confidently read music without the names of the notes being shown (something Mrs Candlish can’t do). These children are just amazing 😁

This morning Y2 were looking at common exception words. We practiced reading the words then played a memory game to see if we could remember what the words were and which one was missing. Naturally we ramped up the challenge by having to spell the missing word correctly without looking at it to win a point. Fantastic learning all round. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsdragon #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Today Y2 were all about taking their learning outside (it’s a shame we picked the chilliest day of the term so far to do it but the children showed off their resilience and braved the elements regardless). We started our morning with applying our learning about adding two numbers together using a column method to playing a game. We had to add the scores together to find out who won the game. This afternoon we practiced our spellings by challenging our partner to spell a word using water and paintbrushes. Not only great fun but it really got us thinking about using the spelling patterns we knew to spell a different word. Fantastic learning from all the Dinos. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsmaths #dcpsenglish #dcpslotc #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Well done Lilly 💖🌟

This afternoon our Y2 gymnasts tackled jumping from apparatus. We mastered straight, star and tuck jumps, making sure we landed on two feet and took off from either one foot or two feet. We were very brave on the higher apparatus. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsdragon #dcpscore #dcpspe ... See MoreSee Less

The Dinos are loving art week this week and are now pattern experts. Yesterday they explored regular and irregular patterns before putting what they learned into practice today to create lots of different patterns to fill in a hand. Their imaginations were in overdrive and I was particularly impressed with how much care and time they took over perfecting their work.

Today was time for our butterflies to be released. We have loved watching them grow from tiny caterpillars, encase themselves in chrysalis and then seeing them emerge as butterflies. One was very keen to explore the great outdoors and flew straight out, the others needed a little coaxing and encouragement. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsstem #dcpslifeskills #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

The Dinos love using the Kaligo app to practice their letter and number formations. We will be joining our writing using a cursive style in no time. Great enthusiasm.

Today the Dinos talked about ways we can make ourselves feel good when we feel one of the unpleasant emotions such as angry, sad or lonely. The general consensus is that a hug is our number one choice followed by doing an activity with someone else. I guess the Dinos just love being around others ❤️ #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsworldmentalhealth #dcpscore #dcpslifeskills ... See MoreSee Less

The Dinos are trying hard to master playing three different notes on the recorder while reading music. I’m very impressed #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsmusic #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

The Dinos have been learning to play the recorder with Mr Brown. After a ropey start they are making lots of progress. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsmusic #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

This afternoon the dinosaurs tested their knowledge about online safety with a Cyber safety snakes and ladders game. We know exactly what to do to stay safe when we are online #dcpsdinosaur #dcpscomputing #dcpslifeskills #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Today Y2 explored compound words and how they are made up of two smaller words. They loved matching them up to make new words. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsdragon #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

We have been learning all about giving instructions in Literacy for the past few weeks and the importance of using imperative verbs. The Dinos created their own imperative verb game them enjoyed playing each other’s. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Last week the Dinos explored micro habitats, looking at which mini beasts like to live there. We didn’t let a little thing like rain stop our scientific enquiry and learned lots about why some creatures prefer different habitats to others. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpslotc ...
