Home Learning @ Denbigh CPS

At Denbigh, we believe in the value of home learning and that is why we have invested heavily in creating a series of virtual classrooms for your child so that we can bring our classrooms to your home.

Whether it be for weekly home learning or whether it be because your child is unable to attend school in person, Denbigh has developed a Google Classroom for your child to provide them with a learning experience similar to their own classroom here at Denbigh.

Every child at Denbigh is allocated a personal Google Learning Account that they can use to access their Google Classroom. Within our Google Classrooms we provide a broad and balanced curriculum that reflects our school provision. Learning is regularly assigned to children and teachers and teaching assistants continually provides challenge and support as our pupils engage in their remote learning.

Technical support is available to our pupils and parents to ensure our virtual classrooms are inclusive.

In additional to our Goolge Classrooms, please find below a series of links that you can use to support your child with their learning. Your child will require a username and password. If your child does not have a username and password then please contact your class teacher via Class Dojo.

*Our home learning activities will be frequently updated during the coronavirus outbreak to support children not able to attend school.

Today reception thoroughly enjoyed learning all about ‘The Christmas Story,’ and discovering why Christmas is celebrated by so many people around the world. The children did a great job of acting out the nativity, during our helicopter story session this afternoon. We discussed how this is a celebration to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who, according to the Christian religion, is the son of God. The children enjoyed retelling the story using the small word characters, showing great recall of the nativity. #dcpsladybird #dcpsbutterfly #dcpsEYFS #dcpsre #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

James Taylor Ashton no where to be seen as usual 🥲😅💨

Since September Year 3 have been learning and recapping the 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables. They are times table wizards! To help consolidate knowledge they made their own counting sticks and played calculation games to test their partner on their times table knowledge. It was so much fun! #dcpscore #dcpsturtle #dcpslizard #dcpsmaths ... See MoreSee Less

Year 3 Turtles have started their new oracy unit in English. By the end of the unit we will be performing a promotional video to sell a Stone Age house to a Stone Age person. We started off the unit by hot seating as a Stone Age person and played oracy games to get ourselves warmed up for all the talking we will be doing. #dcpscore #dcpsturtle #dcpsenglish #dcpsoracy ... Year 4 Giraffes have been busy this week with their new Oracy unit based around poetry. We have started the unit by listening to a range of poems read by different poets thinking about their purpose, audience and considering if we like them or not. #dcpsgiraffe #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... Year 1 Pandas have been amazing learning about Dental Hygiene and loved immersing themselves in the role of a Dentist in their play. They explored the importance of keeping our teeth healthy and became ‘Teeth Defenders’

Reception have thoroughly enjoyed exploring our new topic that is all about taking care of our teeth. We read the story ‘Alan’s big scary teeth,’ about a very unhelpful alligator who lost his teeth after scaring all of the animals in the story. The children made their own maps to help Alan find his teeth and thought up ways he could use his teeth to help others instead of frightening people. The children came up with some great ideas such as, gardening shears and hairdressers scissors to name a few! This led nicely into our topic lesson where we discussed what we need to do to keep our teeth healthy, we discussed how we need to brush our teeth twice a day and have a healthy, balanced diet. The children were able to sort the correct food items on the healthy teeth boards, showing which foods are super healthy and what foods we should eat in moderation. We also enjoyed exploring the dentist equipment kit with the play dough and practicing cleaning our teeth with the toothbrushes on the giant teeth. #dcpsEYFS #dcpsladybird #dcpsbutterfly #dcpscore ...
