Home Learning @ Denbigh CPS

At Denbigh, we believe in the value of home learning and that is why we have invested heavily in creating a series of virtual classrooms for your child so that we can bring our classrooms to your home.

Whether it be for weekly home learning or whether it be because your child is unable to attend school in person, Denbigh has developed a Google Classroom for your child to provide them with a learning experience similar to their own classroom here at Denbigh.

Every child at Denbigh is allocated a personal Google Learning Account that they can use to access their Google Classroom. Within our Google Classrooms we provide a broad and balanced curriculum that reflects our school provision. Learning is regularly assigned to children and teachers and teaching assistants continually provides challenge and support as our pupils engage in their remote learning.

Technical support is available to our pupils and parents to ensure our virtual classrooms are inclusive.

In additional to our Goolge Classrooms, please find below a series of links that you can use to support your child with their learning. Your child will require a username and password. If your child does not have a username and password then please contact your class teacher via Class Dojo.

*Our home learning activities will be frequently updated during the coronavirus outbreak to support children not able to attend school.

Ahoy me matey! Reception are LOVING the new pirate theme this half term! Our story of the week is Pirates love Underpants and today we have been super busy doing all things ‘piratey’ From making treasure maps to excavating numbers in the sand, creating our own ocean water washes and designing traps for the pirates, it’s all been going on! #dcpsEYFS #dcpsladybird #dcpsbutterfly #dcpscore ... This week the full time Nursery children helped our puppet Olly plan his first camping trip. We planned everything he might need to bring with him on his camping trip and had fun making our own campfire crafts. The children helped set up his tent and went fishing in our water tray. We gathered sticks for our campfire and discussed how we would keep ourselves safe around a campfire as we pretended to toast some marshmallows. We are looking forward to next week when we will actually toast some marshmallows around our campfire for real #dcpsEYFS #dcpscaterpillar #dcps30hours #dcpslotc #dcpscore #dcpspshe ... Year 5 have been enjoying their PE lessons this half term. They are being great networkers and working as a team to carry out adventurous activities. So far they’ve had to lead their partner blind folder by using the touch of a finger or clapping, swapped hoops with a friend on their team without speaking, before another person has taken the hoop and moved around the room to find the letters corresponding to numbers, in the fastest time, before trying to make as many words from the letters as they could. #dcpsdolphin #dcpscore #dcpspe ... After spotting some ice on the yard last week the full time nursery children have loved investigating what ice is and where it comes from. They were set the challenge to free some toys stuck in the ice as they investigated how they could melt the ice the fastest using either hot or cold water or sprinkling salt on it. We had fun painting with ice and noticed that our paper was getting very wet. After discovering that ice is made by freezing water the children decided to make their own ice lollies using a range of fruit juices and smoothies. We of course had to try a range of juices before deciding on what flavour we would like our lolly to be. Today we enjoyed our lollies as part of our snack time which tasted amazing! The nursery children were so impressed with their efforts they have asked to make ice cream next week. #dcpsEYFS #dcpscaterpillar #dcps30hours #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpslotc ... See MoreSee Less

This week in nursery we have been exploring shape. The full time nursery children began by exploring circles. We threaded circles, printing with circles and even made large circles in the air with ribbon or on a large sheet of paper. We explored the properties of circles as we noticed the tyres outside where round and found that they were the perfect shape for rolling so we set ourselves the challenge to see who could roll their tyre the furthest. We then looked at other shapes and made our own shape monsters. Today we made some shape biscuits which were delicious! #dcpsEYFS #dcpscaterpillar #dcps30hours #dcpsmaths #dcpslotc #dcpscore ...
