Over the last 2 weeks, Reception have been busy exploring the amazing country of Australia 🇦🇺
Our adventure began when a surprise parcel arrived in class…inside was Kevin the Koala! Kevin wanted to teach us all about Australia, including its fascinating animals, famous landmarks and the Australian Outback.

As part of one of our topics ‘Space,’ Reception read the stories ‘The Darkest Dark’ and ‘The Way Back Home’ which inspired lots of imaginative learning and discussion.
We explored the planets in the solar system through songs and investigated the role of an astronaut. The children had lots of pertinent questions about how they completed everyday tasks in space and were amazed to discover the answers when watching videos of real life astronauts in their rocket!

Reception children had a fantastic time (albeit a little soggy!) in the woods on Wednesday. The weather certainly didn’t dampen their mood as there were smiles all around.
