At Denbigh we provide a broad and balanced programme of gymnastics, games, outdoor and adventurous activities, swimming, athletics activities and dance to enable the children to develop a wide variety of skills, be physically active and develop a life long love of sport that will in turn support a healthy lifestyle.
Our curriculum provides a progressive plan throughout each year and in subsequent years of a child’s primary education. We continually assess all children throughout their units of study to identify gaps in their progress and deliver tailored support within lessons to ensure progress.
Our focus on physical education will ensure that children: receive two hours of high quality PE per week, have access to extensive out of hours learning opportunities, will learn that exercise and activity are a lifelong undertakings essential for health and well being, and that P.E. will be linked to the wider curriculum in order to enhance learning for all participants. Furthermore, we provide a range of competitive sporting opportunities to develop the children’s sportsmanship, motivation and passion for sport.
The school was awarded the School Games Kitemark Gold in 2019 and continue to provide an excellent Physical Education for our children.
