The last two weeks, the children in Reception have been learning all about Space. We read the story The Darkest Dark, by the astronaut Chris Hadfield. We watched a lot of his videos from space and were fascinated to find out how he does everyday tasks in a space station with no gravity. We made our own space station so we could use our imaginations to explore space like real astronauts. We made our own rocket ships and practised blasting them into the air. We mixed colours to make images of the planets and even discussed warm and cool colours while doing so. On Tuesday we came into school and discovered the cctv had caught a friendly bunch of aliens visiting our yard to use our resources over the long weekend, while we were away so we wrote notes to let everyone know our exciting news! #dcpsEYFS #dcpsladybird #dcpsbutterfly #dcpscore #dcpsdt #dcpsart #dcpsscience #dcpsenglish

What a day we had in the woods, yesterday. We got to see then new owl sculpture that has been carved out of a tree stump, we even got to stroke it and think of names for it. Not sure Zoe from the woods was convinced “Steve” was a winner. We had tickle sticks, sticky weed, potions. We went hunting for bugs and also spotted a squirrel making a nest in a tree. We obviously played hide and seek as that’s our favourite game. We saw the ducklings who have grown a little since last week. They were also very brave and were walking along the path with their mum.
