We had lots of fun in forest school this week. We made our own paint using mud, clay and some wild garlic leaves and used these to paint our own pictures. The Dinos have been working hard this half term learning all about algorithms and using the computer to control the way something moves. Over the past few weeks we have been using the Lego Wedo kits to make models which then moved with the power of a USB cable. Lots of skills were tested as we worked collaboratively, taking in the role of engineer, supplier and builder. We were all very impressed with what we made - dancing birds and a 'foot' which could be used to kick a paper ball. Computing at its best. #dcpsdinosaurs #dcpscomputing

We are going to reorganise the dance club for Monday evenings, but as one of the Monday sessions would fall the May bank holiday, we are going to start the sessions the week after that. There will be two groups of sessions offered over the summer term, each running for five weeks at a cost of £5 per pupil. Our little scientists tried their hand at making rubber balls and ice cream this morning. We all agreed that the rubber balls stank of vinegar (yuk) but the ice cream tasted delicious. Try it yourself at home. All you need is milk, sugar, flavouring, ice, salt, freezer bags and some top tunes to move to while you "shake, baby, shake".

Today in Year 2 it's all been about chocolate. Naturally we did the science bit first where we talked about what changes took place when we me,ted chocolate and whether the change could be reversed or not. Then it was time to design and invent a new chocolate bar, before making it. This afternoon will be the all important taste test. Check out our completed bars - they look amazing and smell even better. It's a shame Facebook doesn't have smell-o-vision.
WARNING - these photos will make you hungry and have you raiding the Easter eggs you've already bought for the "kids".
