Year 6 have had a super visit with, ‘That History Bloke,’ who taught them about Peter Barrett, a local Victorian. They had to use their skills of reading census data, looking at a headstone, learning about mining and pulling all this information together to find out what happened to him. They asked lots of interesting questions and worked well as a class to answer the questions about him. They then got to look at a variety of mining artefacts, which they really enjoyed. #dcpslion #dcpscore #dcpstopic #dcpshistory ... See MoreSee Less

Year 6 were learning the drawing skills of hatching, cross hatching, stippling and ink wash then making their work lighter or darker using these techniques. They then used different mediums to create textures using poster paint and water colours together with cotton wool, tissue paper, sponges and a washing up brush! Im sure you agree, they are learning lots of skills. #dcpslion #DCPStiger #dcpsart #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

In Year 1 we have been learning about why we give gifts at Christmas linking it to our Christianity unit, as we talked about how the 3 wisemen brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to baby Jesus and the significance of these. We discussed our favourite gifts and found that the gifts were more special due to who had given us the gift and how it made us feel. We thought we would share the joy by making somebody special a handmade Christmas gift. The children talked about who they made their gift for and why they wanted to give them it. #dcpspanda #dcpspolarbear #dcpsre #dcpspshe ... Continuing with Art, we had a sewing challenge this afternoon. We studied different types of stitches and discussed how we could use them to create texture in our work. This morning we practised using weighing scales to find different amounts of pasta. While it was tricky to read the scales, the hardest part was keeping the pan on top of the scales (we spent quite a bit of time picking pasta off the floor). We would love to practise more weighing at home if we can.

Can I start by saying a huge THANK YOU for all of the raffle donations. We are overwhelmed once again by your support and generosity. It really means so much to us, especially in these difficult times. We are equally blown away by the response to the raffle tickets. Again, thank you so so much!

So... starting tomorrow we begin our 'Twelve Days of Christmas Showcase'. (It's actually going to be 14 but who's counting?!) Every day throughout December, we will be posting a video of a class performing either a song/sketch or dance. We couldn't let Christmas go by without letting you see your little angels perform!

We will also be drawing four raffle tickets each day. Thanks to you lot, we have some amazing prizes to give away! There are chocolate and sweet hampers, pamper hampers, Afternoon Tea hampers, a Geordie Banger voucher and loads loads more! The winning ticket numbers will be posted here. If you have a winning ticket, please bring your ticket to the office and collect your prize.

Enjoy and thank you again for your continued support.
