Sport and PE

We ensure that the PE provision is fully inclusive, engaging, inspiring and tailor made to suit the aspirations of the children.  We believe that through delivering our exciting but relevant curriculum, we ensure that all children can take part and reach their full potential.  We provide high quality PE through an extensive range of activities within the curriculum, and through our after school provision.

We aim to increase the number of children and young people taking part in activities of their choice through Breakfast, lunch and after school clubs; and local competitions.

We have a school PE council who actively make decisions about the physical education of themselves and their peers, this ensures that the pupil voice is pertinent to the development of PE within our school.

P.E Mission Statement

At Denbigh Community Primary School we recognise the importance of children leading a healthy and active lifestyle.  We promote children of all PE abilities to develop their skills across a wide range of activities; and to actively take part in competition to become the best that they can physically be.  We believe that resilience, determination and sportsmanship underpin all physical activities and are vital skills for the leaders of the future.

Today, Year 5 had their first Yoga lessons. Not only did I see a few downward dogs, there was also a few deer, lions, cats, whales and a whole host of other creatures on display!! The children enjoyed it and are looking forward to learning more over the next 8 weeks. Mrs Hammill #dcpswhales #dcpsdolphins #dcpspe ... See MoreSee Less

The boys and girls in Reception did their first PE session in their PE kits this week. They tried really hard to keep their things together and to take them off and put them back on without help. It would be really helpful if the children practised this at home too as the quicker we get changed the more time we have for fun stuff like this...

Nursery have loved their first session doing yoga. We were so impressed with how well they listened to the story and copied the various yoga moves. Yoga not only builds upon the children's physical skills such as strength, flexibility and balance but supports their communication skills as they listen to and join in retelling a popular traditional tale.
The children were all fantastic at putting on their own socks and shoes. Well done caterpillars! #dcpscaterpillar #dcpseyfs #dcpsPE
