Year 5 have had a great time during DT week learning about bread. We got to try fresh bread from the supermarket then had a go at making a variety of different bread types. From this we designed and made our own, before evaluating our work. We loved designing, making and eating the bread. #dcpsdt #dcpsstem #dcpswhales #dcpsdolphins ... See MoreSee Less

Today, Year 5 learnt about Safer Internet Day by acting out different technology based scenes. They role played a scenario then looked to see at which point the situation could have been avoided, with scenarios including posting photos of friends online without permission, inviting someone to join a gaming chat room and buying an in game purchase. For example, one group were posing for selfies. One of the children hated it and the other loved it. He sent it on to the group chat and someone commented that they should have used a filter to look better. This upset the person who hadn’t wanted their photo shared. We needed to work out at which point their actions became a problem and how they could have tackled it. The children were thoroughly engaged with their drama and had a great discussion about how they could stay safe online and with different technologies. Well done Whales, I was very proud of how sensible you were with this tricky topic and what great ideas you had! #dcpswhales #dcpsict #dcpscomputing #dcpsbritishvalues ... See MoreSee Less

Here are some more Year 5s who have entered the 55 Club! Well done ladies! That is now one quarter of the year group have achieved their award and are working at the 55 decimal club! This involves answering questions that are 2decimal place numbers multiplied by a whole number. My brain aches marking them, never mind having to work them out under timed conditions!
