Another fantastic trip today with Year 5 Whales to Broxfield Farm and Alnwick Castle. We saw the cows and bulls then fed a lamb whilst finding out about how the farm provides us with food. We then went to the castle to take part in an Alchemist workshop to learn how illnesses were treated in the Middle Ages. We even made our own medieval soap! What a great day and behaviour was outstanding! Well done Whales! #dcpswhale #dcpslotc

Year 5 reminder - Tomorrow Year 5 are visiting Broxfield Farm and Alnwick Castle. Children will need to wear their Denbigh jumper on top, with sensible trousers and footwear (trainers, walking boots or wellies). All children will also need a waterproof jacket and a packed lunch.
We can't wait!

Aloha! Year 5 Whales had a great International Day learning all about the island of Hawaii. We made detailed fact files, created our own Tiki masks and put our limboing skills to the test at our very own luau! There were some fabulous costumes and we had so much fun! #dcpswhale

Our "cold write" is underway in literacy in Year 5 Whales this morning. Our new unit is all about creating an atmosphere for the reader through narrative. We will compare these to our "hot write" at the end of the unit in a few weeks time #dcpswhale #dcpsliteracy

Here are the successful proud 'parents, from our STEM experiment in Year 5 Whales. They looked after their 'flour babies' and kept them alive a full 3 days and nights! Our experiment helped us to compare the development of humans from new born baby to adult. Well done! #dcpswhale #dcpsstem

It was far too much of a nice day to be stuck inside so year 5 Whales took their topic learning outside. We planned a mission to Mars and could only take 6 things with us! #dcpswhale #dcpslotc

Year 5 Whales are having a fantastic day learning how to use a Raspberry Pi. This is actually a computer!! We set them up and have learnt how to program them to create morse code signals. We have had to listen very carefully and work together. We are now official computer programmers! #dcpswhale #dcpsict
