Year 1 pandas have been looking at numbers to 20 this week. Today we had a go at writing and reading those numbers as words! Here are the children playing a matching game whilst beginning to recognise those tricky spellings. #dcpspanda #dcpsmaths ... See MoreSee Less

We are writing instructions in Year 1 this week but before we could write instructions on how to make a sandcastle we obviously had to go outside and build them first! The children used numbered steps and time conjunctions whilst they worked with their partner to build a sandcastle and then we came inside and wrote the instructions in our books.

Year 1 pandas have finished off their DT work this afternoon. We used our recipes to create our very own dip! We followed our food hygiene rules and used our cutting skills from yesterday and the dips were wonderful! We tasted them after and there were mixed results from the children. I think there may be some alterations in the evaluation part tomorrow. Well done panda class!

Year 1 pandas were spectacular in our sponsored sports event today with David Guest. David commented on how fantastic the children were at sports and also how well behaved we all were. Another outstanding event at Denbigh. Thank you for your support with all of the amazing work our children do.

Today Year 1 Pandas practised their chopping skills. We learnt three different ways to cut using knives. Method 1 was ‘The Bridge’ where the children make an arch over round shapes to cut them into halves or quarters. Method 2 was ‘The Claw’ where the children keep the food still using the tips of their fingers and cut into chunks. Method 3 was ‘Fork Secure’ where the children hold the food in place using a fork and then cut using the knives.
I was so impressed with how sensible and safe the children were when using knives. They listened at all times to keep themselves and their friends safe. Well done pandas!

Last week for Safer Internet Day Year 1 came up with some great visuals for what they believe the internet looks like. They also used role play and games to explore which information they should and shouldn’t give out online. Video to follow. #dcpspolarbear #dcpspanda #dcpsict ... See MoreSee Less
