Year 3 have been learning about the Bronze Age in our topic. We learned that Bronze was brought to Britain by the Beaker People and that they often carried around beakers.
We had a go at creating our own decorative bell beakers today and we think you will agree that the results were fantastic! #dcpsyear3 #dcpslizards #dcpstopic

Year 3 have been learning about the bones in our skeletons today. We started off by making a skeleton and then we labelled each other to show where the bones were in our bodies. We are all bone experts now! #dcpsyear3 #dcpslizards #dcpsstem

Year 3 have been learning about humans and animals in our STEM this week. We have been looking at healthy foods and balanced diets, made our own healthy plates, used fruit to create art and even had our own bush tucker trial where we described the taste of foods to our friends to see if they could guess what we were tasting. What an action packed start to the week! #dcpsyear3 #dcpslizards #dcpsturtles #dcpsSTEM

Year 3 have had a fantastic start to STEM week. We have been looking at forces, magnets and springs. We have had a few jam packed days where we have turned into scientists and carried out some very important scientific investigations. We have investigated pushes and pulls, tested the strength of magnets, looked at magnetic and non magnetic materials and tested how the strength of a push effects how far an object moves. Phew! It's very busy work. We even recorded our results in some very fancy bar charts and tables. We also made some very clever predictions and assessed to see if we were right. Watch out Stephen Hawking, our super lizards are super scientists! #dcpslizards #dcpsyear3 #dcpsstem #dcpslotc

Year 3 have been learning about Stonehenge in our Stone Age topic. We thought about how difficult it would have been to build it without machinery. We were so intrigued that we thought we would use all of Mrs Clarke's yummy biscuits to have a go. It was very tricky! We had to use our resilient learning muscle to find a way to make the biscuits stand up because they were very wobbly, especially after a couple of lizards had a sneaky nibble! We think you will agree that we did a grand job and Mrs Clarke let us have a sneaky biscuit or two afterwards. Building is hungry work, after all 😊 #dcpsyear3 #dcpslizards #dcpstopic

Julie PieWhat a fun way to learn. Holly enjoyed eating the biscuits. I wasn't even allowed a nibble!

Year 3 had a fantastic 'no pens day' today. All of our lessons were outside of the classroom. We enjoyed acting out our 'How to survive the Stone Age' movies, our maths challenges; finding patterns and shapes in nature, making arrays with natural objects, and making patterns with natural objects. We also took on some caveman artwork in the Style of Andrew Goldsworthy.
