We are enjoying our geography unit in year 2. We have learned all about the different continents and oceans and are now thinking about journeys using compass directions. We have enjoyed looking at the globe and atlases to help us with our work. #dcpsdragon #dcpsgeography #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Well done boys

Dragons did their bit for sport relief this afternoon. They took part in a HIIT workout. It was tough going at times, but we were rewarded with a lovely cool down at the end. #dcpsdragon #dcpspe #dcpspshe #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

A windy woolly worm hunt for the dragons this afternoon. We have been learning all about camouflage and why animals use it. We have found out about concealing camouflage, disruptive camouflage and mimicry. #dcpsdragon #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpslotc #BritishScienceWeek ... See MoreSee Less

Some of our Year 2 and 3 children at a Live Creatures Science Day yesterday. They absolutely loved learning about different animals that you can find in the rainforest. Even more excited about the fact they got hold some of them! Their behaviour was amazing, a real credit to the school. #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpslotc #dcpsdragon #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsturtle #dcpslizard ... See MoreSee Less

Well done 😊

Well done boys

Well done guys!! 😊😊👍🏼👍🏼

We were discussing pollution this afternoon. Dragons made their own seaside environments. We talked about how they were clean, inviting and safe for us and animals. Then, much to the dismay of the class, they had to ‘pollute’ their environment. We then talked about the impact pollution has on our environment. We decided that we could help by making sure we recycle, and throw our rubbish away carefully. Ask us about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch! #dcpsdragon #dcpsstem #dcpscore #BritishScienceWeek #dcpsgeography #dcpspshe ... See MoreSee Less

Take one picture..... Dragons have been using working scientifically question stems this afternoon. Building on our exciting trip yesterday, we looked at pictures of aquatic animals and discussed what we wanted to find out about them. The questions flying around the classroom were amazing! #dcpsdragon #dcpsstem #dcpscore #BritishScienceWeek ... See MoreSee Less

Y2 had an amazing day at Tynemouth Aquarium today to kick start British Science Week. We looked at the diverse range of species which can be found in the world’s seas and oceans, looking on with awe and wonder at some of the strangest looking sea creatures we have ever seen. We learned about how plastic is the main pollutant of the ocean and about the devastating impact this has not only on the creatures living there but also how it affects us too. Did you know that because of the plastic which fish eat in the sea that a typical human also has the equivalent of a coat hanger’s worth of plastic inside them as we eat the fish who have consumed the plastic? A terrifying thought!
While the sharks amazed us, our hearts were stolen by the seal show and a visit to the seal hospital where we met Molo who tapped on the glass to get our attention (we later discovered this was a ploy for food 🤣). We can’t wait for the rest of the week where we will explore more about pollution and camouflage. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsdragon #britishscienceweek #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpslotc
