Congratulations to our amazing Dragon of the Week, for working so hard in Maths and STEM this week. #dcpsdragon ... See MoreSee Less

Congratulations to our amazing Dragon of the Week, for working so hard in Maths and STEM this week. #dcpsdragon

This afternoon Dragons investigated air resistance. We made different sized parachutes, then tested each one to see how long it took to reach the ground. We decided, when going on a parachute jump, a bigger parachute is better! #dcpsdragon #dcpsSTEM #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Dragons designing grips for their shoes today. We talked about friction why it is important. #dcpsdragon #dcpsSTEM #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

After investigating height this morning, it was on to surfaces this afternoon and thinking about friction. Dragons had 6 different surfaces for a car to travel on. We thought really carefully about what each surface would do to the distance the car travelled. We were great a fair testing and accurate measuring. We even had another go at practical graphing and made our own bar graph! #dcpsdragon #dcpsSTEM #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Working scientifically this morning in STEM. Dragons were investigating if changing the height of a ramp changed how far a car travelled. We even had a go at practical graphing to record our results. #dcpsdragon #dcpsSTEM #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

What’s this? Playing with toys?! Don’t worry it’s all in the name of science. STEM week continues in Dragons this morning. We are investigating which forces we need to use to make the toys work. We are working great as a team! #dcpsdragon #dcpsstem #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

This afternoon Dragons went to try out the forces we had learned this morning on our outdoor gym. We found out what we needed to push or pull to make it move. Back in the classroom we made a poster showing what we’d found out. #dcpsdragon #dcpsstem #dcpslotc #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Dragons had a fantastic time at the Great North Museum on Friday. We explored the different galleries with our scavenger hunt, thinking about where different animals lived and how they are suited to those areas. We saw lots of fossils, found out how they were formed and even saw that a T-Rex tooth was as big as a banana! Behaviour was outstanding for the whole trip Mrs Chalmers and I were very proud. Well done! #dcpsdragon #dcpsSTEM #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Dragons have been getting into their new topic this week, Out of this World. We have learned the names of the planets in the solar system and put them in order. Then we used our iPads to research facts about different planets and the Sun, to make our own information posters. #dcpsdragon #dcpscomputing #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Dragons have loved poetry week this week. After learning ‘On the Ning, Nang, Nong’ we made up our versions of the poem. We then had a go at learning them off by heart and had a lovely afternoon on Friday sharing our poems with year 1. #dcpsdragon #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Dragons performing ‘On the Ning Nang Ning’ by Spike Milligan. We are now innovating the poem to create our versions and we’re looking forward to performing these later in the week. #dcpsdragon #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Dragons learning ‘On the Ning Nang Nong’ by Spike Milligan today. They enjoyed adding different sounds and actions to the poem. #dcpsdragon #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Dragons getting into poetry week this week. Yesterday we listened to some nonsense poems and talked about what we liked and didn’t like about the poems. We then picked a poem we liked and practiced it to perform for the class. We thought hard about how to make our reading clearer. #dcpsdragon #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less
