Year 5 Dolphins braved the winds today at the Rising Sun to complete the orienteering trail and challenge. We had to use our team work, problem solving and map-reading skills to find as many markers as possible within the given time. Year 5 Dolphins had a great visit to Newcastle Castle today. We went on a walking tour of Tudor Newcastle to visit the famous Bessie Surtee’s house and explored real Tudor artefacts. We then visited the Castle Keep where we learned about the gruesome punishments in Tudor times and what life would have been like for a prisoner in the dungeons. #dcpsdolphin #dcpshistory #dcpslotc #dcpscore ... Year 5 Dolphins completed their Computing unit ‘What Makes a Computer?’ yesterday. We learned all about the different components within a computer and their different jobs. We are now also experts at using binary code. We even had a go at creating our own bitmap images using pixels which we then translated into binary code. #dcpsdolphin #dcpscomputing #dcpscore #dcpsict4learning ... See MoreSee Less

Year 5 enjoyed their book tasting session this morning, looking at a selection of brand new books from a range of different genres. We filled in book reviews for each one that we ‘tasted’ and thought carefully about whether we would like to continue with the book and read on further. #dcpsdolphin #dcpswhale #dcpsenglish #dcpscore #PuffinWorldOfStories ...
