Year 5 Dolphins completed their Computing unit with Mr Brown yesterday. We were learning how to program a mini computer called a Raspberry Pi (sadly not food related!) using Scratch to create different algorithms. We also had a go at coding LED lights to create Morse Code messages. #dcpsdolphin #dcpscomputing #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Year 5 Dolphins investigated the effects of air resistance this morning. We created paper spinners and planned our own investigation to test either how the height, amount of paper clips or size affected the time it took for the spinner to reach the ground. #dcpsdolphin #dcpsSTEM #dcpscore ... Year 5 have started their STEM Week today - Feel the Force! We have been learning all about gravity and how this affects falling objects. We also found out that each force has a reaction force working in the opposite direction. This afternoon, we used a forcemeter to measure the weight of objects using Newtons. #dcpsdolphin #dcpsSTEM #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Year 5 Dolphins have loved Poetry Week so far! Yesterday, we looked at different types of ballad poems that tell a story to the reader. We thought about what we enjoyed about the poems and which ones we liked the most. We then focused on the tragic ballad of ‘The Highwayman’. This afternoon, we prepared our performances of the poem, using intonation and volume to make our readings interesting. #dcpsdolphin #dcpsenglish #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less
