Another day, another trip for Year 5 Dolphins. We spent the morning exploring Alnwick castle and taking part in an alchemist workshop. We learned all about the different cures used to treat illnesses in Medieval times and then made our own soap. In the afternoon, we visited Broxfield farm. We saw the bulls and cows, discovered how beans are grown and fed Danny the lamb. An amazing time was had by all - we had so much fun! Miss Smith #dcpsdolphin #dcpslotc

Year 5 reminder - Tomorrow Year 5 are visiting Broxfield Farm and Alnwick Castle. Children will need to wear their Denbigh jumper on top, with sensible trousers and footwear (trainers, walking boots or wellies). All children will also need a waterproof jacket and a packed lunch.
We can't wait!

Year 5 Dolphins had a fantastic time at the beach today. We spent our time relaxing, making sandcastles, taking a dip in the sea and burying our friends in the sand. We even all worked together as a class to dig an extremely impressive hole. Phew it was hard work! Miss Smith #dcpsdolphin

Year 5 Dolphins loved International Day on Friday! We learned all about Hawaii and even held our own luau where we tasted Hawaiian foods and had a limbo competition. How low can you go? Miss Smith #dcpsdolphin

Year 5 Dolphins became parents last week and had to take care of their own flour babies during our STEM topic 'Animals including Humans'. It really helped us understand how dependent babies are on adults whilst we learned about the human lifecycle and how babies develop over time. Miss Smith #dcpstem #dcpsdolphin

Year 5 Dolphins are spending the day developing their computing skills with Rasberry Pi. So far this morning, we have been using LEDs to create different morse code signals. We have had to be extremely resilient and use our debugging skills to help solve any problems that we came across. It is definitely giving our brains a good work out! We can't wait to continue this afternoon! #dcpsdolphin #dcpsict

Year 5 Dolphins went to visit another school to build a huge bridge! They used all their learning muscles to solve problems, made sure the pieces fitted together and worked as a team. Mrs Hammill was super impressed with how they tackled it. Hopefully we can get the bridge to Denbigh next year- we've definitely got some bridge building engineer experts in Year 5! #dcpsstem #dcpsdolphins
