Year 5 Dolphins are spending the day developing their computing skills with Rasberry Pi. So far this morning, we have been using LEDs to create different morse code signals. We have had to be extremely resilient and use our debugging skills to help solve any problems that we came across. It is definitely giving our brains a good work out! We can't wait to continue this afternoon! #dcpsdolphin #dcpsict

Year 5 Dolphins went to visit another school to build a huge bridge! They used all their learning muscles to solve problems, made sure the pieces fitted together and worked as a team. Mrs Hammill was super impressed with how they tackled it. Hopefully we can get the bridge to Denbigh next year- we've definitely got some bridge building engineer experts in Year 5! #dcpsstem #dcpsdolphins

Year 5/6 have been working hard during gardening club over the past few weeks. We have been working on weeding the planters on the Key Stage 2 yard so they are ready for the vegetables and plants that we have been growing. So far, we have grown some tomatoes, cucumbers, spring onions and sunflowers. We love checking on them every day to see how they have grown! Miss Smith #dcpslotc #dcpsdolphin #dcpswhale #dcpslion

Year 5 Dolphins have been perfecting their sketching skills during Arts Week. We have been thinking all about perspective and how we can make our drawings look realistic using lines. We created drawings of a bedroom and then moved onto drawing a street using a vanishing point and orthogonal lines. The finished pieces have blown me away! Miss Smith #dcpsdolphin #dcpsart

Year 5 rounded off STEM week by using the MUGAs to help us create our very own solar system. We used rolls of toilet paper to help show the relative distances between the different planets and the Sun. It really helped us understand the distances between the planets themselves too and why some planets are much colder than others. #dcpsdolphin #dcpswhale #dcpsstem #dcpslotc

Year 5 Dolphins completed their pizza making this morning at Churchill. Some of us even won awards for our creativity, cooking skills and helpfulness. They all looked absolutely delicious! Miss Smith #dcpsdolphin #dcpslotc #dcpsdt
