Our little scientists tried their hand at making rubber balls and ice cream this morning. We all agreed that the rubber balls stank of vinegar (yuk) but the ice cream tasted delicious. Try it yourself at home. All you need is milk, sugar, flavouring, ice, salt, freezer bags and some top tunes to move to while you "shake, baby, shake".

Today in Year 2 it's all been about chocolate. Naturally we did the science bit first where we talked about what changes took place when we me,ted chocolate and whether the change could be reversed or not. Then it was time to design and invent a new chocolate bar, before making it. This afternoon will be the all important taste test. Check out our completed bars - they look amazing and smell even better. It's a shame Facebook doesn't have smell-o-vision.
WARNING - these photos will make you hungry and have you raiding the Easter eggs you've already bought for the "kids".

Year 2 Dinos are continuing their programming of algorithms. This week we aren't only making probots move but also having a go at writing letters and words through programming our pen. It's trickier than you think, especially forming some of the lower case letters when you can't have any curves!

Year 2 Dinos had a fun and messy morning exploring how materials can change as part of British Science week and discussing whether the changes were reversible. Insta Snow and Ooblek definitely had the wow factor, despite the mess it made, the children loved seeing how the Ooblek changed from a liquid to a solid and back again depending on the 'energy' we gave it through movement.
We also tried out the skittles experiment - a bedazzling rainbow of colours created before our very eyes.
Next on our agenda is the story of chocolate and making our own chocolate bars - yummy!
