Another amazing result from the dinos. We have a mutiny on our hands if we don’t do 55 club everyday 😂 So proud of the determination and resilience of these children. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsmaths #dcpscore ... See MoreSee Less

Some of our Year 2 and 3 children at a Live Creatures Science Day yesterday. They absolutely loved learning about different animals that you can find in the rainforest. Even more excited about the fact they got hold some of them! Their behaviour was amazing, a real credit to the school. #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpslotc #dcpsdragon #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsturtle #dcpslizard ... See MoreSee Less
This afternoon the Dinos made a mini beach complete with seaweed and coral, then they polluted them to compare the two environments. They all agreed that an unpolluted beach and sea is far nicer than a polluted one and discussed what we could all do to be eco warriors and reduce pollution, making the world a better place to live in. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsbritishscienceweek #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpsgeography #dcpspshe ... Y2 had an amazing day at Tynemouth Aquarium today to kick start British Science Week. We looked at the diverse range of species which can be found in the world’s seas and oceans, looking on with awe and wonder at some of the strangest looking sea creatures we have ever seen. We learned about how plastic is the main pollutant of the ocean and about the devastating impact this has not only on the creatures living there but also how it affects us too. Did you know that because of the plastic which fish eat in the sea that a typical human also has the equivalent of a coat hanger’s worth of plastic inside them as we eat the fish who have consumed the plastic? A terrifying thought!
While the sharks amazed us, our hearts were stolen by the seal show and a visit to the seal hospital where we met Molo who tapped on the glass to get our attention (we later discovered this was a ploy for food 🤣). We can’t wait for the rest of the week where we will explore more about pollution and camouflage. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsdragon #britishscienceweek #dcpsstem #dcpscore #dcpslotc ... See MoreSee Less
What an exciting start to British Science Week for Year 2. The theme is Our Diverse Planet. We had a wonderful trip to Blue Reef Aquarium. We started with an Eco Workshop, which got us thinking about how we can be more eco friendly and look after our planet. We learned about plastic pollution and the problems it causes for animals and even how warming oceans is damaging coral. We got to look round the aquarium spotting lots of different aquatic creatures and enjoyed an entertaining seal show! Phew, we can’t wait for the rest of the week. #dcpsdragon #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsstem #dcpscore #BritishScienceWeek #dcpslotc ... See MoreSee Less
