It may be nearly the end of term but the dinos aren’t winding down yet. Three more 55 club members today. Huge congratulations kids.

More picnic fun this morning for Year 2. We made delicious fruit skewers, choosing our selection carefully and cutting safely to build them up. Can’t wait to taste them. #dcpsdinosaur #dcpsdt ... See MoreSee Less

For our DT week this week Year 2 are looking at picnic food. This morning we tasted some different foods and bravely tried some we had never tried before. Frankfurters, lentil curls and pea snacks were a bit hit; olives didn’t go down well (unsurprisingly). More foodie fun this afternoon.

Year 2 can confirm that the North Sea is freezing!
It had to be done.

Year 2 had a fantastic day at the beach today building sandcastles, playing football and tennis, burying each other in the sand and of course digging holes. A certain dragon certainly won the prize for the deepest hole ever dug in Denbigh history. It was amazing.

Thank you for letting me be part of a fantastic day! The children had a brilliant day and were a pleasure to be with 😊

The dinos loved finding out about the history of their local area. They explored what Wallsend looked like between 100 and 50 years ago, including the many changes which has taken place on the high street. They loved the fact that trams and horses were used as the main form of transport in 1913. They then took to the shops, looking at how supermarkets have taken over the high street and how once upon a time all our food was bought in individual shops on the high street. They had a go at working out what they would have bought from each shop, ranging from a butchers to a bakers and a fishmongers. They rounded the day off by listening to Jim who used to be a coal miner. He told them all about life down the mines. They are all happy that life isn’t on the cards for them. Some great research done today and a lot of history learned.

Year 2 loved chatting with the grandparents this morning and finding out how life has changed at school, at home, with toys and with what people did in their spare time. We learned that life was very different to what we know.
