The Nursery children had great fun exploring the snow last week. We even managed to make the worlds smallest snowman as well as throw snowballs and create lots of footprints in the snow. We are definitely getting in the Christmas spirit now #dcpscaterpillar #dcpseyfs ... See MoreSee Less

The children had another fantastic day at forest school today despite the rain and the snow. The children did not complain once unlike my IPad, who refused to work in the snow! We had a great time going on a bear hunt around the forest, making the bears houses and cooked food for the bear on our stove. We had lots of fun in the mud and even made our own mud slide. #dcpscaterpillar #dcpseyfs #dcpslotc ... See MoreSee Less

The children have loved their mini movers sessions this week. We moved around the gym in different ways including jumping, skipping, hopping and running, listening very carefully to the different instruction Rachel gave us. We practised our counting skills as we gathered up all the hand and footprints and played a range of parachute games. Afterwards we had a healthy snack. Nursery parents (morning only) are invited to come join us next Thursday from 9.30-10.30. We will be running these sessions with afternoon children after Christmas #dcpscaterpillar #dcpseyfs #dcpspe ... See MoreSee Less

Over the last few weeks the children have been focusing on their pre writing skills. In particular we have been strengthening the muscles in our fingers by picking up small objects, threading cogs, buttons, pasta and straws, using tweezers and popping bubble wrap to name a few. By strengthening our finger muscles it supports the correct pencil grip and will ensure the children have fantastic writing. We have also engaged in a range of sensory mark making which allows children to make large anti-clockwise circles. This supports the correct formation of letters. These experiences are not only fun but essential before they learn how to write letters. #dcpscaterpillar #dcpseyfs #dcpsliteracy ... See MoreSee Less

The Nursery children had a fantastic time at their first forest school session. We went on a bear hunt around the forest, made the bears some food and worked together to build some houses for the teddies. I was so impressed with how we kind and caring the children were towards each other! We can't wait to go back and explore in the woods some more. #dcpscaterpillar #dcpseyfs #dcpslotc ... A huge thank you for all the parents who came into nursery for the 'Learn with me' sessions yesterday. The theme was The Gruffalo. We had lots of fun making marks in our owl ice cream (shaving foam), practiced our counting skills as we rolled a dice and counted the same amount of scoops in our Gruffalo crumble (cereal) and picked up some scrambled snake (spaghetti) with tweezers. The children loved showing off all their fantastic learning in their file and on the walls. If you were unable to make it and would like to see your child's file please speak with a member of staff to arrange a suitable time ... See MoreSee Less
