Year 2 STEM Week - Spring 2
Year 2 have been bright sparks this week learning all about Electricity. We researched facts about the inventor, Thomas Edison, and wrote reports about him. Next time you're in Year 2 ask us for a fact or two!! We followed in his footsteps and were engineers designing and facing challenges along the way. We solved the problem of building circuits and spotted errors in the circuits our teachers made. We used this knowledge to build a model car with working head lights.
We also enjoyed having visitors in from Northumbria University who set us the marble challenge - to design and build a marble run out of everyday materials! By the end of the session we really were losing our marbles... We also went out on a visit to the Jam Jar cinema where we watched 'Flubber' and took part in a 'plastic fantastic' workshop. We made gloop and bouncing custard balls. You never know, one of us could be the one to invent real flubber!!
