Last week, Year 5 Whales and Year4/5 Elephants visited the great North Museum (Hancock) as part of their It’s All Greek To Me topic. It was an action packed day, and the children loved the ‘fighting forces’ workshop where they were able to handle, and even try on, some Ancient Greek Hoplite replica armour.
It was incredibly heavy and everyone was amazed that the Hoplite soldiers would have worn it into battle, they must have been very fit! The classes also studied the Ancient Greek pots in the museum gallery and couldn’t believe that some of them were over 2000 years old because they were in such good condition. It was a long day but well worth it and as usual, the children represented their school with pride. What a marathon! __________________________________________________________
