Walking with the Wounded
On your marks… Get set… Go! On Friday 2nd May all children took part in our three-legged race to raise money for the charity ‘Walking With The Wounded’ (WWTW). The charity helps fund the re-training of wounded service men and women enabling them to find careers outside of the military.
The children had so much fun taking part in this traditional sports day style race that we may have to include it in our Sports Day!
As well as having fun on the day the children also gained an understanding into some of the challenges face by these wounded service men and women. The ‘disability’ of being tied to another child and having to learn to walk again reflects the injuries that some of the people we are helping have faced. The children also learned that a lot of teamwork and co-operation was required and so they all got to flex their social and co-operative learning muscles. We also enjoyed laughing at each other when we fell over!
With all of your kind donations you helped us to raise over £200.00 for the charity. Thank you!
