Feel the Force!

During STEM week Year 2 have been learning about forces and movement. We investigated how height affects the distance travelled by a vehicle and also how different surfaces affect how far the car will move. We learnt that friction causes vehicles to slow down when travelling on a surface such as carpet, meaning that the car did not travel as far or with as much speed as on the shiny card surface, which had less friction.

We enjoyed looking to see what forces we use every day and especially the forces used by athletes when they are jumping or beginning a sprinting race. We had lots of fun bringing our bikes and scooters into school and looking to see what forces we use when we are riding on them
