On Wednesday 12th June, Year 3 popped up to Northumberland to visit Blagdon Estate at Seaton Burn. The estate is owned by Lord Ridley and allows school groups to visit the grounds and the farm. The children were shown around the farm by Mr Thompson from County Trust, visiting the calf nursery and learning all about the milking parlour.
On the way they spotted loads of beautiful flowers and detected the scent of garlic in the air, caused by the wild garlic which grows in the grounds. Sean gave them a tour of part of the extensive grounds with the hit of the day being ‘froggy’ pond. It isn’t every day that you get to stroke a toad, hug a tree and stand on a lady’s head. But a quick stop off at Northumberlandia, the latest attraction called the Lady of the North, on the way back rounded the day off nicely.
A fantastic day. The children were true ambassadors for our school. They did us proud!
