P&G INSPIRES YEAR 2 SCIENTISTS
We recently had Scientists from P&G (Procter and Gamble) come to visit the Year 2 outdoor classroom and see the children exploring science in the fresh air after P&G helped us to buy some new equipment. We were lucky enough to be nominated by Lisa Steel (Son Harry is in Y2) for a donation from the Community Matters fund at P&G’s Innovation Centre in Longbenton.
They felt that Science seemed to be every pupil’s favourite subject when they saw excited children building dens, planting flowers and developing drain pipe networks. Carol Hill, a key member of the Community Matters team at Longbenton, visited the young scientists at Denbigh Community Primary school to see what they had discovered so far. She said: “It’s great to see primary pupils being so enthusiastic about a subject that is so important today.
Getting children excited about science early on will hopefully help fill some of the skill shortages we are seeing in some sectors of the North East. We are proud to support this worthy cause.”
